About David Randall
Randall was born into several generations of artists and raised in the suburban surroundings of northern New Jersey. Despite winning awards while in High School, one awarded by Ben Shahn, he nevertheless found the decision to become a painter difficult knowing intimately what difficulties might lay ahead. Thanks for the info, David. Even without the sparkes this is a heartwarmer and wonderful design success.

I used gold leaf as highlights in the water. It doesn't translate digitally or in any print for that matter. The gold makes sparkles and flashes at the viewer as they move to a view location that reflects the light from the glossy leaf. Others have done it in the past. Klimt comes to mind but others as well.

This is gorgeous, David. And I remember saying the same thing as in your description language....And at that time did three pen and ink drawings of dad and child...but I never followed through on that theme. I'll have to find them.... This painting so appealing not only for the expression and bond, but the colors are radiant...I don't know the process oil and gold leaf..but includes my favorite stripes and strong, bold design. The rhythms sing. Favorite.
