Thanks for the info, David. Even without the sparkes this is a heartwarmer and wonderful design success.

I used gold leaf as highlights in the water. It doesn't translate digitally or in any print for that matter. The gold makes sparkles and flashes at the viewer as they move to a view location that reflects the light from the glossy leaf. Others have done it in the past. Klimt comes to mind but others as well.

This is gorgeous, David. And I remember saying the same thing as in your description language....And at that time did three pen and ink drawings of dad and child...but I never followed through on that theme. I'll have to find them.... This painting so appealing not only for the expression and bond, but the colors are radiant...I don't know the process oil and gold leaf..but includes my favorite stripes and strong, bold design. The rhythms sing. Favorite.

He began studying drawing, painting and sculpture in NYC at the National Academy of Fine Arts and then at the New York Studio School with Philip Guston, Mercedes Matter, Leland Bell, Peter Agostini and Sydney Geyst coming in contact with many of the leading figures in the, "Abstract Expressionist" movement at...
